Desktop Themes: One Way To Brighten Your Workspace

I don't know if you have noticed the new trend lately of customization mania. I say mania because it seems like you can make anything that you own your very own by customizing it with a little personal flair. The place that I have noticed the most customizing frenzy at the personal/office computing market. Themes galore including desktop themes, radio station themes, search themes, etc. "Skins" or the internet browsers version of the theme is another great example of this trend.

So what is behind this? And what kinds of options are we talking about that are offered to the computer users. Well lets take desktop themes as our example. You can go on the internet and purchase downloads for the cost of typical computer game let's say. You actually purchase a long list of menus of different options that you can go through and choose according to your preferences. These options affect things like the general look of the wall paper on the desktop. Or the appearance of the icons, windows, tool buttons, mouse cursor, lettering, menu forms, and on and on. It can also assign sounds that you like to different actions performed such as minimizing windows,

Types of and Causes of Cerebral Palsy

Definition

Cerebral palsy is not a disease it is a condition. Cerebral refers to the brain and palsy means weakness or lack of muscle control. In addition, cerebral palsy is not a single problem, but a complex disease in which virtually all brain cell types could need repair. Approximately 90 percent of all cases are caused by brain injury during the prenatal period (before labor begins). This condition is caused by damage to brain cells that control the movement of muscles. A person with cerebral palsy can have mild to severe physical disabilities. There are varying degrees of therapies depending on the degree of condition. However, just because a person has cerebral palsy, it does not mean they will have other disabilities.
Causes and Risks

Recent studies suggest that cerebral palsy is mostly due to factors affecting the brain before birth. In about 70 percent of cases, cerebral palsy results from events occurring before birth that can disrupt normal development of the brain. This condition is caused by an injury to the brain during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after birth. The symptoms are usually not noticeable at birth. It was previously assumed that it was caused by

The Top Ten Ways To Avoid Failing In Your Business

1. Stop hiring yourself.

First stop hiring yourself by continually working "in" your business. Don't be an employee of your company, reserve the choice to be the president of your company. Secondly, stop hiring yourself through your employees. Business owners tend to hire people like themselves instead of people that have the strengths they require for that position. You tend to forgive their weakness in that area because you also have the weakness. Here is a formula to use in delegating to the right people, when you don't have to manage, monitor or motivate your employees you are truly delegating. For example one of my clients had to fire his manager. His manager was in charge of the computer operations. He decided to promote someone from within the company to take his place. He hired a computer consultant to train the new employee. The problem with this is the person he was training lacked knowledge about computers. This was a very expensive way to replace his original manager. He realized he had hired himself. He also lacks knowledge of computers and had too much empathy for his new manager. He remembered when he was younger and wanted to give his

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is an advanced form of diving. Fundamentally, it is the same as simple under water diving but aided with a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. Scuba diving requires the use of an air tank that allows one to breathe underwater.

A number of scuba divers take pleasure in diving in lakes, while a few prefer to dive in river waters. However, the most exciting version of scuba diving involves diving into the unknown depths of ocean waters. Scuba diving is a daring sport usually pursued for recreational purposes. Professional scuba diving involves diving for commercial, military and scientific purposes.

As an amateur, a scuba diver may not be allowed to go beyond 18 feet under water. If a diver is professionally trained, then conventional scuba diving techniques will increase the diver's ability to dive deeper and longer. Technical scuba diving methods allow one to dive deeper than 130 feet. Surface supplied diving and saturation diving techniques may also be mastered.

Scuba diving should always be attempted with at least one other person present. Associates should stay together through the duration of the dive. The perils of scuba diving lie in wait for an inexperienced diver, who

Printpad cuts the cost of labelling

Companies printing barcode labels in-house no longer have to tie-up PCs just to run their label printers, thanks to PrintPad, a dedicated barcode printing terminal.

Said to cut labelling costs while increasing productivity, the PrintPad is half the cost of a PC and is smaller than a laptop. It is rugged yet easily portable so can be used anywhere in the workplace. It is lightweight PrintPad weighs only 800 grammes and its compact 219mm by 178mm by 38mm dimensions mean that it is equally at home on the factory production line as in a high street store.

Customised merchandise, carton or compliance labels produced using PrintPad can incorporate text, barcodes and graphics, price and weight information and user instructions. PrintPad can print serial numbers, calculate expiry dates and log production information.

It can scan item numbers for accuracy and validate information against any stored database. The keyboard-operated PrintPad can control up to four different printers, even if each one is printing different information onto different sized labels, with the added bonus that it will support any Paxar UK printer plus literally hundreds of barcode printers from other leading printer manufacturers. Another useful feature is that PrintPad can be

Practicing And Performing Music

There is a perception that performing and practicing music are two very different activities. I think that the relationship between performing and practicing is deeply intertwined and at a certain level the distinction between the two virtually disappears.

At some point in a musical career, performing itself becomes the greater learning experience. Greatly significant aspect of performing is the tremendous energy that is experienced during a live performance in front of a receptive audience.

The true purpose of developing mechanical and musical ability becomes evident and the focus of practice sessions is changed. At that point, ironically enough, performing itself becomes the true learning experience because a tremendous energy is experienced during a live performance in front of a receptive audience. The energy of the audience, as perceived or felt by the performer, pushes him to new heights of artistic achievement and practicing becomes preparation to concentrate and enhance that experience; this marks the beginning of the transition from musician to artist.

The artist will find new ways of practicing to bring live performances closer to the pure ecstasy of musical expression in all ways. Bringing diverse disciplines such as psychology and other artistic disciplines such

Come Out With Your Checkbook Open

Joey, daring the spotlights that were scanning the warehouse in which he was holed up, took a quick look out the window at the crowd below, and shouted, Never, you dirty, rotten bill collectors! Then he ducked back to the haven beneath the sill.

He recently got more into debt than usual in fact, he found himself surrounded by it and he was having a restless dream about the multitude of bill collectors who were haunting his mind. Being an old movie buff with smiling memories of Jimmy Cagney, his brain had somehow cast him in a role familiar to all who feel a similar attachment to the Cagney legacy. His black suit was dusty, his white shirt was open, and he had a bottle of whisky beside him, from which he took an occasional reinforcement.

Joey, do you hear me? the Verizon customer service rep called through a bullhorn. This is Verizon.

Whaddaya want? Joey called back.

This is a final disconnect notice.

Already? Joey replied, and looked down at the pile of bills scattered on the floor. He started to leaf through them nervously and found the Verizon invoice. I have your bill right here, he yelled

Ironman Triathlon-Run Equipment Choices

There are several run-equipment choices I feel can help you quite a lot in your quest for your first Ironman Trathlon finisher medal.

SHOES- Of course well fitting shoes are a priority. I've tried every sort of shoe you can imagine over the years and have come to this conclusion:

You can train just as well and stay just as injury free in $50 shoes as you can in $150 dollar shoes. For instance, what if an outlet has a brand new 2005 model shoe on sale for $69, and sells the new, improved (same shoe) 2006 model for $149. Does that mean the older model was no good and will hurt your feet? Of course not! In order to stay competetive, manufacturers have to continually make small changes and/or improvements in their product to stay in step with the competition.

The change from one year to the next may just be in the color, or new lacing system or a bit more build-up in some part of the shoe. Sometimes the change is really small.

Just shop around. See whats out there and in your training try several different types of shoes and when you find the one that

Retail Jobs Provide Unprecedented Opportunities

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for those people interested in a retail career will soar over the next five to ten years. Retail opportunities are expected to grow in virtually every type of position, but the need for customer service representatives, marketing managers, and counter clerks are projected to grow up to thirty-five percent by the year 2014. The Bureau estimates that companies will need nearly 2.3 million retail salespeople by 2014 and almost 1.8 million cashiers. High-growth jobs in retail also include those who work in merchandise display and who are purchasing managers.

Chlamydia Is Killing Your Child

A recent study has given infertile men new hope of successfully conceiving a child with their partners. The culprit may just be a silent bacterial infection called chlamydia lurking within their bodies. According to Spanish researchers, chlamydia can damage sperm quality, thus causing infertility in men. They presented their findings at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine conference, based on a study done on 143 men infected with the infection. Using a new microscopic analysis technique, samples from the test subjects were analyzed and found to have a level of sperm damage more than three times higher than in healthy men. The sperm damage includes the level of DNA fragmentation, poor sperm concentration, increased levels of shape defects and poor ability to swim quickly.

The Difference Between Self-Confidence And Arrogance

Self-confidence is the innate quality of trusting your own abilities and instincts. Self-confident people often successful, attentive, and flexible, and can deal with most any life situation. A self-confident person realizes what his or her potential is and works to realize it. Those that are around a self-confident person are aware of his or her character by his or her actions. People that are self-confident demonstrate it by their actions, and not through their words alone. However, if you are always trying to impress your friends, family, or coworkers by overtly asserting your self-confidence, then you are likely arrogant. There is a big difference between the two characteristics, but the line between them is not clearly defined. Often, people who are usually highly self-confident cross the line into arrogance and dont even know it.

If your family, friends, or coworkers find you arrogant, they will not enjoy being around you. It is more important to impress individuals through actions than through words. The maxim actions speak louder than words is very true. We are all more likely to trust someone who gets the job done rather than someone who simply boasts about doing it. An arrogant person is

Traffic Exchanges – Do They Work For You?

Traffic exchanges, also known as hit exchanges and start exchanges, are a very simple means of driving traffic to a website.

Being in a traffic exchange is like being in a club. You surf, using a specially designed surf bar unique to the traffic exchange in question, and view the other club members websites. Every time you view a website you get a credit, or a point, and these are exchanged for visitors who view your website. Normally there is a ratio involved and - for free members - it is often one return visitor for every two websites that you view.

Most exchanges are free to join but many have a pro upgrade option where you can get a better view/return view ratio (say 1:1) for a monthly fee, typically a few dollars a month. The large majority of members in the typical exchange are free members.

Traffic exchanges are much maligned there are many who will tell you that they dont work. One of the main reasons cited for this is the fact that most of the traffic exchange members are members of the exchange primarily because they are already promoting a business opportunity or product of their
